In May, 2015 SOLI provided a leadership training course for NPU (Nineveh Plain Protection Units) sergeants and officers, taught by a former West Point instructor volunteering for SOLI. This was an intense training program that combined classroom instruction with tactical combat instruction involving simulated activities.
The training was extremely successful, as the NPU (Nineveh Plain Protection Units) students made incredible progress, resulting in a significant boost to their morale and a dramatic increase in their confidence and abilities.
Following the completion of the leadership trainingprogram, SOLI continued to provide advising and consulting to the leadership of the NPU (Nineveh Plain Protection Units). In the fall, SOLI provided $30,000 (half of the construction budget) for the completion of the first Assyrian Christian military base in Iraq. The base was built by the NPU (Nineveh Plain Protection Units) and construction was completed in the winter of 2016.
